Greenwood Children's Center UPDATE

The Town Manager has presented an FY22 budget that includes the daycare (see statement from Town Manager to Select Board memo below.)  Department Heads will attend the 3/9/21 Select Board meeting to discuss budgets and the public forum will be 3/10/21.  The budget is scheduled to be voted on by the Select Board on 3/15/21.

Town Meeting will be held Sunday, 5/16/21 @ 1pm.

All agendas and budgets are posted on the Town website:  www.longmeadow.org. All meetings are public.

Once all approvals have been received, we will begin to take preliminary registrations with a target opening date on or around 8/30.  At this time, it is our intention to offer daycare and school age after school care at Greenwood Center.  It is also our intention to offer summer day camp at Greenwood with registration information becoming available mid to late April.

If you have any questions that are not answered here, please email me at bjarvis@longmeadow.org

Bari Jarvis, Director

Longmeadow Parks and Recreation

"Day Care operations are funded at $150,000 or approximately 50% of the costs of prior year under normal conditions. It is seed money to restart the program and if the results of operations require additional funding it will be sought at the fall 2021 Special Town Meeting. This is a cautious approach, as operations may be amidst the continued pandemic requiring certain additional precautions. The Day Care program is revenue neutral so the bottom line to the General Fund will not be impacted if the anticipated Day Care revenues do not equate to the budgeted expense dollars. Realistic budgeted revenues will need to be proven to the Department of Revenue in order to set the Town’s tax rate. The Parks / Recreation Revolving Fund will absorb any year-end actual excess / deficiencies in the Day Care operations." -Town Manager memo to Select Board 3/1/2021

Open Space and Recreation Plan

The completed 2020 Longmeadow Open Space FINAL PLAN is available here for public viewing. The Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP) was developed with assistance from the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission.

The OSRP plan not only identifies town goals for open space and recreation  but provides statistical data about our open space and was updated to identify and meet the current and future needs of Longmeadow’s residents.                                                                                We would like to thank the community of Longmeadow for your participation in this process.  Your feedback made for a thoughtful and inclusive document.
We would also like to thank the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission (PVPC) and especially Emily Slotnick, for their hard work and dedication to this process and the final plan preparation.
Last, we would like to thank the OSRP committee for their dedication to this 13 month process.  Your hours of meeting, planning and participating made this working document come to life.
