Activities

BASIC INFORMATION:

To be eligible to participate, swimmers must be a minimum of 5 years old and must be able to swim at least 25 yards (1 lap) continuously. It is important that they are water safe.  The fee will be $150 per swimmer and there will be a 10% sibling discount.  As we are sponsored by Longmeadow Park and Recreation Department, we are required to have parents sign a parent code of conduct and a waiver of liability. Swimmers will read and sign a player code of conduct.  You will see these forms as you register.

This year we are pleased to have David Wheat as our head coach. David has experience as a swimmer and coach and was a participant in the Pioneer Valley Swim League (PVSL) with Agawam Piranhas as an age group swimmer.  He moved to Agawam from South Korea and started swimming competitively with the Agawam Piranhas at the age of 9. He then to swam for MTSC, a local club team.. Growing up in the swimming world, he traveled  for swim camps and meets, going to New England Age Group Championships and Eastern Zone Championships. He has set many records in the PVSL and Agawam High School.  Most recently, David was an assistant coach and eventually became the head coach of the Agawam Piranhas Swim Team. leading to assistant swim coach than to a head coach for a season. When not on the pool deck, David works in a Taekwondo Center working before and after school programs.

SCHEDULE:

The season begins October 25th and will end with Championships January 22-23rd. Practices will be held at the Longmeadow High School pool (Monday through Thursday) from 6:00 – 6:45 pm for swimmers 10 & under and from 6:50 – 7:50 pm for swimmers 11 and older. It is our recommendation that swimmers attend at least 2 practices a week to find success in the program.

Meets will be held virtually for the 1st half of the season and  the league will meet in early December to determine the process for the remainder of the season.

We look forward to having you join the Longmeadow Aquatic Club and are excited for another great season!
